About Us
Northwest Territories Integration Community Services (NWT-ICS) was founded in June 2021 as a volunteer group by five passionate members, and it was officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2023. Our mandate is to improve the livelihood and socio-economic well-being of individuals in NWT communities, focusing on critical issues such as homelessness, addictions, mental health, food insecurity, and poverty reduction.
The founders of NWT-ICS are longtime residents of the Northwest Territories, with many years of experience working with vulnerable populations in leadership and frontline capacities. The organization was formed in response to the gaps in services for vulnerable communities, particularly those outside of Yellowknife. With a deep understanding of the need for support, the founders are dedicated to addressing chronic homelessness and mental health issues in our region.
Our Mission
At NWT-ICS, we are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families by providing services and programs aimed at addressing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, and other socio-economic hardships. Our work is driven by compassion and a belief in the importance of community and collaboration.
Our Programs
Our programs focus on the most pressing issues facing communities in the Northwest Territories:
- Homelessness: Offering shelter, support services, and pathways to stable housing.
- Addictions Support: Providing assistance and resources to help individuals overcome addiction.
- Mental Health Services: Supporting individuals facing mental health challenges through counseling and community resources.
- Food Insecurity: Addressing food insecurity with nutrition programs and access to essential food supplies.
- Poverty Reduction: Implementing programs designed to reduce poverty and enhance economic independence.
